Google AI Launches New Lab In India
Google is an American multinational technology company that specializes in Internet-related services and products, which include online advertising technologies, search engine, cloud computing, software and hardware. It is considered one of the biggest technology companies, alongside Amazon, Apple and Facebook. Google was founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were Ph.D. students at Stanford University in California.
India is one of the crucial markets for Google. Google in the recent past has launched a number of make in India projects and initiatives, like the BOLO app, rail Wi-Fi project and its flood forecasting initiative that piloted in Patna, that cater to the needs and requirements of the people living in India. Now the company is taking a step further in the Indian territory and setting up a research lab in India.
The lab will be led by IIT Bangalore Infosys foundation chair and professor Manish Gupta, who has a background in deep learning, video analysis, and education. Gupta is also cofounder and CEO of education tech startup VideoKen.
Google AI aims to conduct research that advances the state-of-the-art in the field, applying AI to products and to new domains, and developing tools to ensure that everyone can access AI. Google’s AI mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. AI is helping us do that in exciting new ways, solving problems for our users, our customers, and the world.
